Smite Open Beta Is Here

So Hi-Rez studios have finally made Smite into an open beta now! So if you didn't receive a beta key go and pick a your account now!

Smite Official Website

Tera

So Tera is also going free to play now and following the example of Star Wars The Old Republic and their other mmorpg "Aion" which I tried a bit and I don't remember my first impression of it though but I think it was okay but nothing spectacular. Tera is a third person action mmorpg, it's a mmo with the hack n slash gameplay. You can use attacks and so on but you fight with your mouse which I wanted on the Star Wars Old Republic it would have been so much cooler that way. Tera got a really good character customization with a lot of different races to pick from and many different ways of making the characters. This is a very positive thing.

So I played Tera for a while and I must say this is quite funny it got good gameplay but since I have played Vindictus I know that there are better free to play games in this genre. Tera is though more of the standard mmo game you do quests and level up. Vindictus is a dungeon based so is Tera, Vindictus is more action mmo than Tera. I enjoyed the start of Tera, you start at level 20 for some reason. They have not released the entire free to play patch but you got an unlimited trial period, that can be the reason to why you start at level 20. You get decent gear at the start, I think that the intro is a bit too long. You run around to many people and turn in quests and so on I think they could have thrown you into the story in another way.

I think if you want a game like Tera an action mmo which is dungeon based I think you should go with Vindictus I had a lot more fun with Vindictus than what I had with Tera.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

So I always enjoys war games they are awesome. So when I got my hands on Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising I just had to play it. This game is actually really good, I also have the Arma II and Arma II operation arrowhead. I have not played them so much though, but I will sooner or later.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is taking place in China where you are supposed to make the Chinese military lose a lot of assets so you can terminate their general later in the game. Every mission got side missions that you can choose to do if you so would like to. At first I didn't like this game but I got more and more into it, and they have a nice combination of stealth missions and assault missions. The enemies are really good at aiming in this game too, so it's a bit more "realistic" than most of the other games, where you can take a lot of bullets before you go down. If the enemy shoot you once in the head and you are done. You are in control of your own squad that you can command as you like. If you want them to be decoys they can be it, if you want a head on assault they can do it.  Overall I really enjoyed the hours I spent in this game. I can just say that if you like war games this certainly is something you should give a try.

One of the negative things with this game is the weapon sounds, when you have played Battlefield 3 once or any battlefield. You know how they always want all weapons to sound like the real deal and they even patch the games if the weapons got the wrong sound. I think more games should be like this so the guns doesn't sound like BB guns. Operation Flashpoint got better sound than a BB gun but many games have the wrong sound for the weapons. But operation flashpoint nailed it quite good I think!

Dead Space 2

So I played this a while ago but since the 3rd game in the Dead Space series is coming in February I thought well lets spread the word for those who haven't played the first two games. After playing the second game I find the second game to be a lot more PC friendly, when you tried to aim on Dead Space 1 you could feel that it's not meant for the PC. Dead Space 2 is the best horror game I have played, it's not just scary there are some puzzles you have to solve to get further and further into the infested planet. It's a third person shooter, something they should add is the option to bring it down to a first person shooter, that would have been really cool not that's something that would make the game better it would just be a cool feature. I must say that I think this game is a lot more bloody than Dead Space 1, and I like that you have mixed enemies both humans and infested. I found it a bit boring to just fight monsters.

Dead Space 2 is taking place after you have gotten back from the Ishimura the mining ship the marker first did it's dirty work and started the infestation. Isaac is now placed at a mental hospital where he helped them to build a new marker on a planet. You get rescued from your strain jacket and now have to save an entire planet from being infested. Nicole, Isaac's girlfriend from the first game appears on your way to the marker. Something new with this game is that you can find blueprints for your suit so it's not like the first game where you have the same suit throughout the entire game. Sure you could upgrade it, you can still upgrade the suits with nodes you find, these nodes can be used on workbenches to upgrade weapons, suits and the stasis. There are a lot of new monsters and weapons for you to explore and use.

Something new in this game is that it offers you to play multiplayer something you dont have in the first game and in Dead Space 3 they even unlock a co-op option. So dead space 3 is something that I will get just because of the co-op option. Question is if I should buy it to console or PC, well it's some days before the release so I have time to decide it. I don't know about the story in Dead Space 3 I only know you are supposed to enter the planet where the marker and the infestation started, I don't know if you have to play the second and first game to understand the entire story. They had actually added an option in Dead Space 2 where you can see what has happened in the first game. Perhaps they will add that option in Dead Space 3. But I think if you are looking for a really well made horror game this game series is something for you!

Star Wars The Old Republic

Some months ago I wrote about the announcement that Bioware did on their MMORPG "star wars the old republic. This game went free to play up to level 50 and soon there will be a digital expansion so you get a level cap on 55 instead. But I decided to try this game out and see if it's any good. So here it comes my first impression on Star Wars The Old Republic. I cant do a completely objective first impression since I have been playing different mmorpgs and enjoyed some and hated others.

So the first thing I just have to point out is that the cinematic in Star Wars The Old Republic are really good in this game despite the less good trailer I saw for the free to play option. The reason I took this up is because I think all MMOrpgs need a good opening cinematic and they truly scored. Something I have never seen in an mmo is the detailed intro that you get when you started a class. I only tried the siths because I mean come on who doesn't want to do Darth Mauls kid or something like that.

That brings me in to the second opinion the customization, it's really good actually you get alot of content even though I have the free to play version. I couldn't be one race that's all. Everything else was unlocked for me. The different classes are also cool, everything is preset and you cant tweak anything on your own this is something even the most popular mmo lack, "World Of Warcraft". I think they could actually add more tweaking in the customization so you can run around with a somewhat unique character. But overall the customization is cool with lots of options.

Third opinion is the gameplay, which I found a bit boring actually. But the graphics and the cinematic you get at every quest are quite cool but a bit annoying too. It's being an interactive gameplay when you pickup quests and so on. It's really annoying, sure it makes you understand more about the story but I think they should have the accept and decline only and you can read the rest on your own. Because of this interactive quest taking I ran around for a while at the start, because the opening is a cinematic which you have to watch if you do not press "space". Something I didn't know and pressed on the mouse a couple of times so it took some time before I could play. Something I am disappointed on is the fact that you start with a light stick. I made a sith because I wanted to have a lightsaber, I mean all other mmos make you start with a decent weapon, warriors doesn't start with three sticks on all games. Overall the quests and combat system is really good, could have been cooler with more of a hack n' slash game that's the only thing I could have wanted not the click and press system that most of the mmos use.

If you want a free to play game with high standards then this is a game that you should play. I warmly recommend this if you want a new mmorpg to play. Star Wars The Old Republic is a good game.

Elder Scrolls MMO game

So yeah they are currently having sign up for the closed beta on the mmo rpg game that elder scrolls made. This looks seriously awesome and if you want the closed beta. Take the chance and sign up!

Here is the link where you sign up: Elder Scrolls Sign Up Website

Firefall Beta

So I just got an email from red 5 studios, they have announced  that this weekend is supposed to be a public beta testing weekend for Firefall so if you have signed up for the beta and not received it you can play this through the 25-27th January so make sure you got signed up for this because this game is excellent and really funny. I tried this out a while ago and I can say that this is a cool game, you can switch from first person shooter to third person shooter. An MMOFPS in it's prime!

Just a tip for the people who want to try out a new cool game and make sure to give them feedback for this work because this free to play game can grow really big I think.

Splinter Cell Conviction

So I got this game 'cause I wanted a coop game with a campaign. This game is like all the other splinter cell games you are Sam Fisher but in this game you are not working for National Secruity Agency the game starts in a interrogation room where some people are interrogating Victor Coste a former NAVY seal. He explains why Sam Fisher went rogue and started attacking the NSA, this game is not as stealthy as the others, the coop got more stealth than the campaign. You can still use the darkness to your advantage but it's not necessary to actually take cameras and lights down. You have a new ability, if you take an enemy down with melee you get an ability called execute so you can mark people and take them out simultaneously this is great. The amount of marks depends on the upgrades you have on your weapon and on the weapon itself. At the beginning of the game you get this phone and a girl speaks to you and tells you that you are in danger, this is the tutorial like beginning where you get to know the buttons and how you are supposed to play this game, the story in this game is to save your daughter and save the president. I think they did a very good job with this game, I didn't enjoy the other splinter cell games as much as this one because it's less stealth and more action in this. But you can still choose to play as the stealth agent from the first games.

The coop is really fun and playing the stealth missions with a friend is so much fun, some of the missions are made so you have to stay undetected for the entire mission but others are more free and you can go and kill whoever you want in any fashion you want.

If you want a really fun coop game this is something I recommend strongly!

Baby Blues free horror game

This game, is influenced by slender games according to me. You are a kid that are searching for 9 teddy bears before you can go back to sleep. But it's not just to gather the teddy bears, while you are walking around in the house scary things happens to you. This is just a first impression I played for a while, what I saw and what I had to endure while trying this game out. It is really scary the only thing I can say about this is that if you like being scared by things jumping out of nowhere then play this game. They even made normal baby lullabies into songs about horror, this game is not like One Late Night that I made a first impression on earlier today. This game have the dark surrounding and they don't have to build anything up before they throw a scary thing at your face it's scary from the start. I hate opening doors and so on in games you never know what's on the other side.

But here is the link for the game:

One Late Night (horror indie game)

So this game got released a couple of days ago on indieb and moddb. Some of the sites I check out for new exciting releases of horror games. This horror game takes place in an office, your are working on a project and your deadline is approaching really fast. So you are working alone "One Late Night" and when you go and get your coffee shit really hits the fan when you get back to your office someone has been there writing something on your screen. I wonder know why the hell he just doesn't stay in his little room but what would be the horror in that? So you go out and explore the different parts in the office to find out what's going on. This is just a first impression I never saw what was haunting me or anything like that, just some chairs flying around and such. This game really builds up to something, I went around in the office for a while and never encountered anything. I personally likes the horror games where you can shoot everything apart when something scary appears. Amnesia is pretty awesome though but that's because you can actually hide very well, this game sure you can hide under desks.

If you want a good free horror game, a short one. Then One Late Night is the game for you! I will post their official website down below.

PAYDAY the heist

I bought this game, PAYDAY the heist a couple of months ago. Seemed like a nice game, I always want to play as the "bad" guy in the games. It's so boring to always be the one who brings evil down, this time I wanted a game where I could do evil. So me and a couple of friends ended up buying this game.

In this game you play as one out of four robbers, the goal with the game is to level up your character and clear the different levels on different difficulties. According to me this game really lacks one of the most important things, the amount of robberies you can pull off is too low. They really need to add more maps. Sure there are secrets on some maps and some easter eggs on different levels. Like the fact that you can have masks looking like the different special infected from Left 4 dead 2. This game is somewhat fun when you are 4 persons speaking and playing at the same time, but it gets boring really quickly. So I think they should add more maps to this game so you can enjoy and have fun for a longer period of time. While you are trying to pull of the different heists you get assaulted by police waves. Special forces with different abilities, so if you want the heist to work out perfectly you really have to work as a team, which makes this a real fun coop game but if it had more maps and a way to customize weapons, masks or anything else that you could use in the game would be really cool.

But if you want a game that you and some friends want to play this is definitely a game for you. My first impression of this game is positive but when you have played the different "heists" you get bored by them. I do not know if I can recommend this game but if you are bored and want something to play this can be fun. It lacks maps though but sure if they started patching or started making some ways for you to play as cops while others played as the robbers. I miss something like that, I want more then just coop. Some sort of player vs player not just player vs AI.

Darksiders II

Darksiders II one of the games I have been waiting to play with eager since I played darksiders. In this game you are not playing as War, you are playing as Death. The game set is that you are playing one of the four horsemen, the keeper of the balance in the universe in order to do this the they have received incredible power from the Charred Council if they slaughtered all of the Nephilim. The four horsemen are the last standing Nephilims, angels and demons that have been fused togheter.

You play as Death or more known in the game as kin-slayer since he slaughtered his own kind just to achieve the great powers the Charred Council offered him. This time you are supposed to save War, your brother from Darksiders. In the first game War is accused for being the one that made the human kind extinct, you are supposed to prove to the Charred Council that War is not the one to blame. Death is going on a journey to resurrect humanity and remove all of the crimes War have been accused for.

If you have played both you know that this game is really different from the first Darksiders. Sure both are third-person hack n' slash games but this game got an open world and you can do so many side quests. Unlike the first game where you follow the story line. In this game you also get your horse from the beginning something you did not get until the middle of the game while playing the first Darksiders. You can also loot gear and customize your character more with different armours and weapons, the abyssal armour exists in this game as it does in the first game. But it's more difficult to get the abyssal in Darksiders II than in the first game. You also got a talent tree in this game where you can choose if you want to play as a Necromancer or if you want to fight with arms, your scythes.

But overall I really enjoyed every minute I played this game only thing I really missed is the big sword War had, I wanted Death to wield one big scythe and not two different. But that's life!

Stay frosty!

Orcs Must Die 2

So yeah, this game is a defence game where you are supposed to defend against orcs, trolls and other story monsters. You got traps to help you with this and other weapons you can wield. Well this is different from the first Orcs Must Die this game got a co-op mode where you and one more can play and build traps to kill of the waves of orcs. This game is alot of fun if you are a friend are bored and want something to do. Slaying orcs is always fun, with every level you get skulls by how good you clear the waves. These skulls will help you in the way that they are used as upgrade costs. If you have some spare money over and want a great co-op. I didnt play orcs must die the first game because I think it's quite boring to play a defence game by yourself. You get two characters that you can choose between, you can also unlock costumes with the skulls you receive at the end of the level or by completing the game. Same with weapons and traps you can either unlock them with skulls or you get some new weapons and traps when you win some of the maps. You cant unlock them all with skulls nor by winning the levels. That combination is the best I think, because it's not too easy that way.

Max Payne

So yeah I bought Max Payne 3 for my ps3 so it wont be any screenshots or anything. The reasons why I bought it so late is because I thought the only used the name Max Payne on the game so they could use the bullet time. So my first impression of this game was that it's a bit too happy and I missed the old dark max payne. They way you play in the first and second game, they are way more cold at the start. The further I got into the game the more of the old Max Payne got back and I started  enjoying this game to the full extent. Especially when you get to play the history behind why Max Payne is being a bodyguard in Brazil. It's a very good game from rockstar games and it's really well made something I did'nt expect when I bought it.

The best part in the entire game is probably the easter egg where you can play "The Fall of Max Payne" soundtrack on the piano. That totally woke the nostalgia from the other games, now I just want them to make a Max Payne 4.

If you havent played the first two games I strongly recommend you to do it before getting Max Payne 3, since the story in Max Payne 3 is what happens after the two first games, which surprised me. Thought it would be a game that did'nt have any meaning behind. Sure the Max Payne is acting like he is from a GTA game, and it's not like the original games where he doesnt swear so much. But I think they still did a very good job. Would be if Remedy Entertainment (the original makers of the Max Payne series) did Max Payne 3 so you could see how they would have done him. If they would have made Max stay in New York and fight the mob or if the is somewhere else in the world.

But still Max Payne 3 is definitely worth playing. In my opinion.

Rock of Ages

This game got released some years ago, it's developed by "ace team" the creators of zeno clash a game I made a first impression on. This game is totally different from zeno clash though. This games is probably the most fun you can have if you want something to do while you are bored. You play as sisyphus when he decides to escape his eternal punishment, pushing a boulder up a hill without ever reaching the top. When he escapes his punishment he faces different historical people. The cinematics are just so fantastic and every cinematic and map made me laugh. So you are playing as sisyphus boulder that's gonna roll through a map and the enemy defence and break a door where the person is hiding. You can also build up defence against the enemy boulder. This is totally crazy, every sound is so unique and the way they use it is hilarious. The doesnt got any meaning according to me you just go and slay historical persons with a boulder.

I dont know if any other developers could make this work but since ace team made zeno clash work they totally pulled this off. It's pretty goofy and is very fun to spend some spare time on. So if you havent pick this game up you should really do it. It's on steam.

Warframe

So I finally got some time to post some new posts now. So I will start by giving my first impression of "Warframe" a new free to play, third-person shooter that is focused on co-op. This game got fantastic graphics probably among the best I have seen in the free to play genre.

You are a "tenno" they are old warriors of the blades and guns and they are once again needed to fight in a war against grineer and corpus etc. You can choose if you want to play private, solo or online. You start at the planet mercury where you can pick different stations and where the enemies are. When you have cleared the tree that is in mercury you can enter different planets from the milky way. There are different game modes in the different stations, one mode is exterminate where you are supposed to kill the entire enemy force and another is defence where you are supposed to defend something from a couple of enemy waves and there are some other modes.
But first you get to pick your tenno, the soldier you want to play. Depending on what you pick you get different abilites. I wanted to slash my enemies up so I choose excalibur. When you kill enemies with different weapons the weapons level up and in a talent tree you choose to upgrade your weapon on different aspects as reloading speed and fire rate etc. Your tenno suit also levels up and it also got a talent tree. You also earn credits from playing with them you can buy new weapons, blueprints for warframes (the suit you are wearing, you can find weapon blueprints on the map) with the different blueprints you can craft items with materials you find on the different planets and you also use the credits to install the upgrade mods for your weapons.

This game is very funny to play both alone and with someone. There is so much you can do and I think that just because they choose to focus on co-op instead of PVP made this game alot more fun. It's so much more fun to play alongside with someone than against someone in my opinion. Sure it's fun to play against people too but co-op with friends is hard to beat but I hope they will have some sort of arena mode later on. This game is really early in the closed beta so it's not yet optimized but it would be really cool if you they had some sort of war mode where you can play as the enemy races against the tenno warriors.

But this game is amazing and if you dont have any game to play right now or if you do, pick up a key. The website shows news where you can see if you can pick up a key somewhere. For all you old school gamers, the excalibur tenno is so similar to Gray Fox from the first metal gear solid and the way you cut enemies in this game looks like metal gear rising. So it's quite nostalgic to play this free to play game since it reminds me somewhat of the fight between snake and Gray Fox.
